Haven’t really updated you recently on what i’ve been doing on the work side of things. It’s been fairly hectic as we’re still transitioning from moving office and adjusting to new funding streams for apprenticeships. Our two floor office is still merged to the top floor as we wait for work to start downstairs (it used to be a laboratory!)
As i come to the end of my apprenticeship, my roles and responsibilities are quite varied and it’s actually quite difficult to summarise exactly what i’m doing at the moment – it’s been a bit of everything the last couple of months. I suppose my main projects have been designing plans for updates to the Opps site and dealing with apprenticeship vacancies on the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) website.
Last week we had a really constructive meeting with our web developer and things are moving forward on that front. My role was to put forward my experiences from using and maintaining the website whilst taking minutes of the meeting. I have a few proposals of new sections for the website which are in progress which is quite exciting.
Unfortunately, the NAS site you don’t get to see as an applicant or user looking for vacancies (like i once was) is not the best system in the world and is quite hard to use. I spend a fair bit of time creating vacancies (there is a strict requirement for them, one vacancy i submitted was referred to be redone as i included ‘young person’ in the description). But i’m learning and it is becoming easier i guess.
I’m still doing a lot of little jobs like answering the phone, dealing with deliveries and supporting our tutors. It’s good having different tasks to do, and i feel like nearly a year on from starting here, i’m still learning new experiences.
