Going through my speaking and listening presentation with my tutor later to get it prepared for tomorrows meeting. It will be roughly 20mins long and will be a discussion on health and safety where I have to speak (formal/informal) and listen. My tutor will be there to assess me and hopefully mark me with a pass for it afterwards!
Don’t know what Functional Skills are? They are the part of the apprenticeship that covers English, maths and sometimes IT. At level 1 or 2 depending on if the apprenticeship is intermediate or advanced, they are important because they give you extra skills, knowledge and certificates to boost your CV with. English is split into reading, writing and speaking and listening. Oh and you don’t have to do Functional skills in English or maths if you have a A*-C GCSE in that subject.
I didn’t have to do the Functional Skills aspect of my apprenticeship but chose to anyway because it’s a few years since my GCSE’s and they’ve been a good refresher. Completed everything but speaking and listening so will let you know how it goes!
